I’m a UX/UI and graphic designer based in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
I have 17 years of graphic design experience spanning the marketing, technology, international development, and non-profit sectors. UX design is the synthesis of many of my skills and experiences, from graphic design to journalism to poetry. I combine solid research, concise communication, and appealing visuals to solve real-world problems.
Before I was a graphic designer, I was a journalist for two years, and my research and interviewing skills come in handy when conducting user research. I’m also a published poet, so I understand the importance of being intentional with language, whether it’s poetry or microcopy.
I’m happiest when I’m creating, and fulfilled when I’m creating something that solves an important problem. I’ve loved to create ever since I discovered poetry as a kid, and knew I wanted to be a writer. After earning a degree in English and working as a journalist, I discovered that I was also passionate about visual arts. Using my layout skills as a springboard, I moved into the world of graphic design.
In my spare time, I love to read a good book (whether it’s fiction, nonfiction, or poetry), I love to travel (I’ve been everywhere from Puerto Rico to Spain to China), and I love to spend time with my family. I’m a volunteer editor and art director for a literary magazine, and I’m also currently volunteering as a UX designer with Civic Tech DC, collaborating with a cross-functional team to solve local issues with technology.
UX and graphic design are always exciting for me, because there’s always room for creativity, in every project in every sector. I use my combination of creativity and design thinking to solve your toughest design problems.
